Baron Jean Michel Paul de Selys Longchamps war ein belgischer Jagdpilot, der im Zweiten Weltkrieg für die Royal Air Force kämpfte. Selys wurde vor allem durch seinen Angriff auf das Hauptquartier der Sipo-SD und der Gestapo in Brüssel bekannt. Er fiel ein halbes Jahr später, als sein beschädigtes Flugzeug bei der Landung abstürzte.
Jean de Selys war der Sohn von Major der Kavallerie Baron Raymond de Selys Longchamps und Emilie de Theux de Meylandt et Monjardin. Schon in jungen Jahren war er ein geübter Reiter und mit nur 16 Jahren nahm er bereits an diversen Wettkämpfen teil. Es war daher naheliegend, dass Selys im Juli 1933 für seinen Militärdienst beim Ersten Garde-Regiment eintrat. Er stieg zum Leutnant auf.
