Das Schloss Pellenberg könnte das älteste Gebäude von Machelen sein. Pellenberg ist schließlich die Fortsetzung der alten Dorfburg von Machelen, die zur Gründung des ersten Dorfkerns führte.
Das Schloss wurde 1986 in einem verfallenen Zustand von der Gemeindeverwaltung gekauft. Es wurde vollständig restauriert und als soziokulturelles Zentrum eingerichtet, in dem auch die öffentliche Bibliothek untergebracht wurde.
