Die Brilschans in Berchem ist zusammen mit der Schans Jeugdherberg das einzige Überbleibsel des Festungsgrabens der Großen Umwallung. Der Rest verschwand mit dem Bau des Rings um Antwerpen. Es entwickelte sich zu einem Stadtpark (12 ha) mit Geh- und Radwegen.
