Die Tröge von Beausaint scheinen auf ein utilitaristisches und landwirtschaftliches System hinzuweisen, das nicht mehr verwendet wird.
Bevor Rinder und Pferde im Stall oder auf der Weide getränkt werden konnten , musste die Herde mehrmals täglich zu einer Tränke geführt werden. Dies war eine harte und zeitraubende Arbeit.
In Dörfern, die zu weit von einem Fluss oder Teich entfernt waren, mussten die Tiere ihren Durst an Wassertrögen (die von der nächsten Quelle versorgt wurden) stillen.
Heute sind die Tröge zu Blumenbeeten geworden , die der Landschaft Farbe verleihen.
