Fosses-la-Ville ist eine Stadt und eine Gemeinde in der Provinz Namur im wallonischen Teil Belgiens. Die Gemeinde besteht neben Fosses-la-Ville aus den Ortschaften Aisemont, Le Roux, Sart-Eustache, Sart-Saint-Laurent und Vitrival.
Die Abtei Fosses wurde im Jahr 650 vom Heiligen Foillan, ein irischer Wandermönch, auf einem Stück Land westlich von Namur in Belgien gegründet, das ihm Gertrud von Nivelles geschenkt hatte. Er selbst trat aber nicht das Amt des Abtes der neuen Abtei an, sondern zog sich nach Nivelles zurück, nachdem er seinen Auftrag erfüllt hatte. Abt wurde einer seiner irischen Begleiter.
