Mellingen ist eine Einwohnergemeinde im Schweizer Kanton Aargau. Die Kleinstadt gehört zum Bezirk Baden und liegt auf halben Weg zwischen Baden und Lenzburg an der Reuss.
Das Städtchen liegt auf der linken Seite der Reuss, die hier von Südosten nach Nordwesten fliesst. Das überbaute Gebiet erstreck sich in einer Ebene, die im Westen durch die einst vom Reussgletscher geschaffene Endmoräne von Wohlenschwil, im Süden durch den Wagenrain und im Nordosten durch sanft ansteigende, bewaldete Hügel begrenzt wird. Im Nordwesten fliesst die Reuss durch eine etwa 100 Meter breite und 40 Meter tiefe Schlucht.
