Die Romandie besteht aus den Kantonen Genf, Jura, Neuenburg und Waadt mit Französisch als Amtssprache sowie den frankophonen Teilen der zweisprachigen Kantone Bern , Freiburg und Wallis . Während die 2 Millionen Einwohner der Romandie rund einen Viertel der schweizerischen Gesamtbevölkerung stellen, ist Genf nach Zürich und vor Basel die zweitgrösste und Lausanne vor der Bundesstadt Bern die viertgrösste Stadt des Landes.
