Oberhof ist eine Landstadt im Landkreis Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thüringen . Sie liegt am Kamm des Thüringer Waldes auf etwa 815 m ü. NHN in der Nähe des Rennsteigs.
Oberhof ist als deutsches Wintersportzentrum bekannt. Besonders populär sind hier die Sportarten Biathlon, Rennrodeln bzw. Bobsport, Skilanglauf und die Nordische Kombination. Die Stadt lebt vom Tourismus. Im Jahr 2009 kamen 132.000 Gäste mit insgesamt 426.000 Übernachtungen nach Oberhof. Damit ist Oberhof nach Erfurt und Weimar der meistbesuchte Ort in Thüringen sowie der meistbesuchte Ferienort im Thüringer Wald.
