Geseke ist eine Mittelstadt im Kreis Soest in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Die Stadt weist kontinuierliche Besiedlungsspuren seit dem Neolithikum auf. Im Mittelalter war sie über Jahrhunderte die wichtigste Grenzstadt des Herzogtums Westfalen, d. h. des Kölner Erzbischofs und Kurfürsten, gegenüber dem Erzbistum Paderborn. Geseke gehörte als sogenannte Beistadt von Soest der Hanse an und ist heute Mitglied im Hansebund der Neuzeit. Die Stadt war bis in das 19. Jahrhundert hinein landwirtschaftlich geprägt und erlebte durch die Eisenbahnanbindung, den Aufschwung der Zementindustrie und den Betrieb einer Eisengießerei die Zeit der Industrialisierung. Heute sind zwei Weltmarktführer und diverse mittelständische Betriebe vor Ort tätig.
