Schifferstadt ist eine verbandsfreie Stadt mit rund 20.000 Einwohnern in Rheinland-Pfalz und Teil der Europäischen Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar. Die Stadt liegt im Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis und ist gemäß Landesplanung als Mittelzentrum ausgewiesen.
Schifferstadt liegt im Norden des Oberrheingrabens in der Vorderpfalz. Es ist die einzige Stadt im Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis und im Landesentwicklungsprogramm als Mittelzentrum im Ergänzungsnetz ausgewiesen.
