Altrip ist eine Ortsgemeinde im Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis in Rheinland-Pfalz. Der nahezu unverändert überkommene Name geht darauf zurück, dass hier im Jahr 369 unter dem römischen Kaiser Valentinian I. das Kastell Alta Ripa gegründet wurde. Der Name bezieht sich auf die besondere Lage auf einer rechten Uferbank des Rheins.
