Osnabrück ist eine Großstadt in Niedersachsen und Sitz des Landkreises Osnabrück. Die kreisfreie Stadt ist ein Oberzentrum Niedersachsens und Mittelpunkt des Osnabrücker Landes. Mit rund 170.000 Einwohnern zählt sie neben dem ähnlich großen Oldenburg und den größeren Städten Hannover und Braunschweig zu den vier größten Städten Niedersachsens und ist damit auch die größte westfälische Stadt auf niedersächsischem Boden. Die ca. 28.000 Studenten von Universität und Hochschule machen etwa 14 % der Gesamtbevölkerung aus.
