Der Köterberg ist ein Hügel mit einem Gipfel in einer Höhe von 496 Metern, der Teil des Lipper Berglandes ist, welches wiederum Teil des Weserberglandes ist. Von der Stadt Polle überwindet man einen Höhenunterschied von 406 Metern auf 13 Kilometern. Die letzten anderthalb Kilometer sind Sackgassen und die steilsten (bis zu 14%).
