Die Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster in Münster ist mit rund 44.431 Studierenden und rund 280 Studiengängen in 15 Fachbereichen eine der größten deutschen Universitäten. Ihr Namensgeber war Kaiser Wilhelm II. in seiner Eigenschaft als König von Preußen, auf dessen Beschluss die WWU im Jahr 1902 zur Universität wurde. Leitung und Verwaltung befinden sich im Gebäude des ehemaligen fürstbischöflichen Schlosses.
