Das Polizeipräsidium Westhessen ist eines von sieben sogenannten Flächenpräsidien in Hessen. Es hat seinen Verwaltungssitz in der Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden und besteht seit 2001.
Im Jahr 2001 fand eine Umstrukturierung der gesamten hessischen Polizei statt, so dass das ehemalige Polizeipräsidium Wiesbaden in das heutige Polizeipräsidium Westhessen umgewandelt wurde. Aus den Polizeidirektionen für Rheingau-Taunus, Limburg-Weilburg und Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, dem Polizeipräsidium Frankfurt Direktion West , den Polizeiautobahnstationen in Idstein sowie in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim und dem Polizeipräsidium in Wiesbaden entstand eine neue Behörde.
