Die Hunte ist ein 189 km langer, linker und westlicher Nebenfluss der Weser in Niedersachsen . Sie ist nach der Aller ihr zweitlängster Nebenfluss und durchquert bzw. berührt die Landkreise Osnabrück, Diepholz, Vechta, Oldenburg, Wesermarsch sowie die Stadt Oldenburg.
Der Fluss entspringt südlich des Wiehengebirges am Nordhang des Holzhauser Berges im Osnabrücker Hügelland nördlich von Melle und westlich des Weilers Hustädte. Das Quellgebiet liegt zwischen den Meller Stadtteilen Oldendorf und Buer und gehört zum Naturpark TERRA.vita.
