Ludwigsstadt ist eine Stadt im Norden des oberfränkischen Landkreises Kronach in Bayern, die an der Bayerischen Porzellanstraße liegt.
Die Stadt ist die einzige Kommune in Bayern, die nördlich des Rennsteigs liegt. Die Umgebung ist durch den Frankenwald und das Thüringer Schiefergebirge geprägt. Ludwigsstadt liegt an der Loquitz etwa vier Kilometer von der thüringischen Landesgrenze entfernt. Als nördlichste Region des Landkreises Kronach wird die Stadt Ludwigsstadt in drei Himmelsrichtungen von Thüringen umschlossen, was bis 1989/1990 bedeutet, in einer extremen Grenzlage an der innerdeutschen Grenze zu liegen.
