Avilés ist eine Stadt in Asturien, Spanien. Avilés ist zusammen mit Oviedo und Gijón eine der Hauptstädte im Fürstentum Asturien. Die Stadt liegt auf dem flachsten Gelände der Gemeinde, teilweise auf einem Land, das dem Meer gehörte, umgeben von kleinen Vorgebirgen, die alle eine Höhe von weniger als 140 Metern haben. Am Avilés-Mündung gelegen, im nördlichen zentralen Bereich der asturischen Küste, westlich des Kap Peñas, befindet sich der nationale Seehafen.
