Fretin ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 3290 Einwohnern im Département Nord in der Region Hauts-de-France. Fretin gehört zum Arrondissement Lille und zum Kanton Templeuve . Die Einwohner nennen sich selbst Fretinois.Fretin liegt etwa zehn Kilometer südöstlich von Lille in der Landschaft Mélantois. Umgeben wird Fretin von den Nachbargemeinden Lesquin im Norden und Nordwesten, Sainghin-en-Mélantois im Norden und Nordosten, Péronne-en-Mélantois im Osten, Templeuve im Südosten, Ennevelin im Süden, Avelin im Südwesten.
