Castres ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 42.079 Einwohnern im Département Tarn in der Region Okzitanien. Sie ist Verwaltungssitz des Arrondissements Castres und von mehreren Kantonen.Castres liegt rund 45 km südsüdöstlich von Albi und 72 km östlich von Toulouse am Ufer des Flusses Agout, in den hier die Nebenflüsse Durenque und Thoré einmünden. Die Gemeinde liegt in der Nähe der Monts du Sidobre und der Montagne Noire.
