Aurillac ist eine französische Stadt in der Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes und mit 25.593 Einwohnern die größte Stadt im Département Cantal. Die Stadt ist Sitz der Präfektur des Départements. Die Präfektur verwaltet auch das Arrondissement Aurillac, das aus zwölf Kantonen besteht.Aurillac liegt am südwestlichen Fuß des Cantal-Vulkans in einem fruchtbaren Becken am Flüsschen Jordanne, das kurz danach in die Cère mündet.
