Belfort-du-Quercy ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 517 Einwohnern im Département Lot in der Region Okzitanien . Die Gemeinde gehört zum Arrondissement Cahors und zum Kanton Marches du Sud-Quercy.Der Name der Gemeinde stammt vom lateinischen bellus fort ab. Das Adjektiv bellus ist hier in dem Sinne von „mächtig“ oder „imposant“ zu verstehen. Das lateinische fors / fortis bezieht sich bis zum 11. bis 12. Jahrhundert auf eine einfache Wehranlage aus Holz auf einer Anhöhe und erst ab dem 12. Jahrhundert auf eine Festung aus Stein.
