Rambouillet ist vor allem bekannt für den ausgedehnten Wald von Rambouillet und das Schloss von Rambouillet. Dieses Schloss stammt aus dem 14. Jahrhundert und ist heutzutage der offizielle Wohnsitz des französischen Präsidenten. Es ist auch oft Schauplatz für internationale Gipfeltreffen und Staatsbesuche.
Im Schloss wurde im Februar 1999 das Rambouillet-Abkommen von der NATO erstellt.
Weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten in Rambouillet sind; die Bergerie nationale, der Palais du Roi de Rome, dies ist ein historisches Denkmal seit 1993 und beherbergt temporäre Ausstellungen mit sehr abwechslungsreichen Themen.
