Saint-Martin-de-Ré ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 2215 Einwohnern an der französischen Atlantikküste im Département Charente-Maritime. Sie liegt auf der Insel Ile de Ré.Die umfangreiche Festungsanlage wurde im frühen 17. Jahrhundert gebaut und später von Vauban noch erheblich erweitert. Von der in Hafennähe gelegenen Zitadelle wurden früher die Sträflinge ins Bagno nach Französisch-Guyana und Neukaledonien verschifft, . Während der Ruhrbesetzung wurden zahlreiche deutsche politische Gefangene in der Zitadelle inhaftiert. Ein Teil des Hafens ist tideabhängig und fällt bei Ebbe völlig trocken.
