Diese Kirche wurde dem heiligen Vaast geweiht, und diese Wahl war nicht ohne Grund. Tatsächlich ist erstens der heilige Vaast als einer der großen Evangelisatoren Flanderns bekannt; zweitens wurde das Gebäude als Eigentum der Abtei Saint-Vaast in Arras gegründet. Seit der Revolution wurde es als Scheune genutzt und 1825 wieder dem Gottesdienst übergeben. Im 9. Jahrhundert erbaut, wurde es mehrfach zerstört und sogar bei einem der Bombenangriffe des Ersten Weltkriegs im Jahr 1917 niedergerissen.
