Clonsilla war einst ein kleines Dorf im inneren westlichen Teil des County Dublin, ist jedoch heute ein großes Wohnvorstadtgebiet, in dem Ongar und andere Orte ihre eigenen untergeordneten Identitäten entwickeln. Es gehört zum Postbezirk Dublin 15, zur Wahlkreis Dublin West Dáil und wird lokal vom Fingal County Council verwaltet.
