Ugento hat 12.360 Einwohner . Es liegt in der Provinz Lecce in Apulien, im südlichen Salento, etwa 47,5 Kilometer südlich der Stadt Lecce direkt am Mittelmeer, am Übergang des Golfs von Tarent zum Ionischen Meer.
