Die "Tonca" ist eine einzigartige jährliche Tradition in Trento, die während der Feste Vigiliane Ende Juni stattfindet. Dabei wird ein lokaler Politiker oder eine öffentliche Figur in einen Käfig gesteckt und in den Fluss Adige getaucht als humoristische Strafe für vermeintliche Vergehen. Dieses Ereignis, Teil des "Gerichts der Buße", ist eine satirische Nachstellung mittelalterlicher Strafen und dient als unterhaltsame Möglichkeit, Einzelpersonen zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen, während der Schutzpatron der Stadt, der heilige Vigilio, gefeiert wird.
