Das Gebiet der Gemeinde Junglinster war schon seit den frühesten Zeiten besiedelt, wovon zahlreiche Funde zeugen. Nahe der Straße von Altlinster nach Godbringen befindet sich ein sog. „Heidenstein“, genannt Häerdcheslee.Lincera wird urkundlich schon 867 erwähnt . Das Dorf steht im Besitzverzeichnis des Klosters Sankt Simeon in Trier, das König Heinrich IV. dem Abt 1098 bestätigt . Von der „Herrschaft Linster“ wird zum ersten Mal im Schöffenweistum von Esch an der Sauer vom Jahre 1201 gesprochen. Das Wasserschloss der Herren von Linster stand in Altlinster.
