Slagharen ist ein Dorf in der Gemeinde Hardenberg, das in Nord-Salland in der niederländischen Provinz Overijssel liegt. Im Jahr 2021 hatte das Dorf 3.125 Einwohner. Slagharen entstand als Torfstechersiedlung um 1840, als deutsche Torfarbeiter in Richtung Ostniederlande zogen. Der Name Slagharen leitet sich von 'slag', was Stück Land oder Boden bedeutet, kombiniert mit 'haare', was höher gelegene Gegend bedeutet. Dieses letzte Merkmal findet man auch in der Tatsache, dass ältere Slagharenaren immer noch 'in Slagharen' sagen, wenn sie meinen, dass sich etwas innerhalb der Dorfgrenzen befindet.
