Middachten wird erstmals im Jahr 1190 erwähnt. Obwohl die Burg Middachten ihren Ursprung im frühen Mittelalter findet, stammt die heutige Gestalt aus dem Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts. Da Middachten nie verkauft wurde, sondern von einer Generation zur nächsten übergegangen ist, ist Middachten so 'vollständig' geblieben. Middachten ist daher mit dem ursprünglichen Inventar ausgestattet.
