Die Gemeinde Weert wurde 2013 von einer europäischen Jury als Grünste Stadt Europas ausgezeichnet. Eine große Anerkennung für Weert selbst, aber auch ein großes Lob für ARK Natuurontwikkeling und die Partner, mit denen ARK zusammenarbeitet: Stiftung Het Limburgs Landschap, Brabants Landschap, Natuurmonumenten, Staatsbosbeheer,... ARK war in den vergangenen Jahren der Motor hinter der sehr ambitionierten Naturentwicklung auf niederländischer Seite des Kempen-Broek.
