Rottum in der Gemeinde Het Hogeland ist ein ursprünglich radial angelegtes Wierdedorf, das zwischen Kantens und Usquert liegt. Es befindet sich in der niederländischen Provinz Groningen in der historischen Landschaft Oosterambt des Ommeland Hunsingo. Der Ort hat 90 Einwohner. Rottum ist Namensgeber für Rottumeroog, da das ehemalige Kloster Juliana der wichtigste Eigentümer dieser Insel war. Es ist nicht bekannt, ob Rottumerplaat nach dem Dorf oder nach Rottumeroog benannt wurde. Die Weiler Helwerd, Holwinde und Bethlehem gehören ebenfalls zum Dorf Rottum.
