Der "Grote Plas" entstand in den 60er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts durch das Abgraben von Sand zur Schaffung einiger neuer Wohngebiete in der Umgebung. Am Wasser liegt nun das Erholungsgebiet Delfse Hout mit unter anderem einem Rehgehege, einem Bauernhof mit Wasserspielplatz, einem Strand und einem Campingplatz. Es gibt verschiedene Rad- und Wanderwege durch das Gebiet, also weicht ruhig von der GPX-Route ab.
