Rechts von den zwei Bänken vor der Ritterhofstadt Gunterstein steht ein Hufschlagpfahl. Im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert standen Dutzende dieser harten Steinpfähle entlang der Vecht. Es waren eine Art Grenzpfähle, die anzeigten, wer für die Instandhaltung eines Teils des Deichs verantwortlich war. Der jetzt aufgestellte Pfahl hat die Inschrift: 'Breukelen cum suis' und markierte somit den Teil, den Breukelen und Umgebung instand halten mussten. Alle Dörfer an der Vecht und im Hinterland trugen so zur Unterhaltung des Vechtdijks bei, denn jeder war auf einen starken Deich angewiesen, um das Wasser draußen zu halten. Die meisten Hufschlagpfähle sind im Laufe der Zeit verschwunden. Dieser Pfahl wurde vor der kommunalen Deponie gerettet, restauriert und 10 Jahre später, Ende 2016, hier aufgestellt.
