Bis zu Beginn dieses Jahrhunderts waren die Hügel in dieser Region mit Kiefern bedeckt. Der Großteil davon ist für die Papierindustrie bestimmt. Danach wurde weitgehend auf das Pflanzen von Eukalyptus umgestellt, der nach 10 Jahren zurückgeschnitten wird, auch für die Verarbeitung zu Papier. Der Vorteil ist, dass der Eukalyptus automatisch wieder wächst, wo die Kiefern nach dem Schneiden wieder gepflanzt werden müssen. Der Nachteil des Eukalyptus ist, dass es sich um einen echten Wasserabfall handelt, nicht wirklich eine gute Wahl für eine Region die zunehmend austrocknet, und der Baum eine echte Brandgefahr darstellt.
