Das schwedische UNESCO-Welterbe Laponia liegt im schwedischen Teil Lapplands und ist Teil von Europas größter, weitgehend unbeeinflusster Wildnis . Es ist sowohl Weltnatur- wie Weltkulturerbe und wurde 1996 eingerichtet.
Laponia ist darüber hinaus eines von vier Welterbegebieten, in dem indigene Völker leben. In diesem Fall sind es die sieben im Folgenden genannten samischen Rentierzüchterverbände , die in den Sommermonaten Rentierwirtschaft sowohl innerhalb, als auch außerhalb der Grenzen des Weltnaturerbes betreiben: Baste Čearru , Unna Čearuš , Sirkas, Jåhkågasska und Tuorpon, sowie Luokta-Mávas und Gällivare skogssameby.
