Greenpoint ist der am weitesten nördlich gelegene Stadtteil von Brooklyn in New York City. Im Südwesten grenzt Greenpoint an Williamsburg, im Südosten an den Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, im Norden an den Newtown Creek und im Westen an den East River. Die Pulaski Bridge, benannt nach Casimir Pulaski, verbindet Greenpoint mit Long Island City, dem westlichsten Stadtteil von Queens. Von den etwa 40.000 Einwohnern sind viele polnischer Abstammung.
Vor Ankunft der Europäer wurde Greenpoint von den Keskachauge bewohnt, einem Zweig der Lenape. Benannt wurde die Gegend nach einem Streifen grünen Landes, welcher in den East River ragte. 1638 verhandelte die Niederländische Westindien-Kompanie mit den Lenape um das Recht die Brooklyn Halbinsel zu besiedeln.
