In 2022, a sculpture was inaugurated in the Josephine Koch Park : a piano frame that detached itself from the rest of the piano during the flood disaster in July 2021. The artists Norbert Huppertz and Petra Michel-Neumann gave the piano frame a second life.
An information board states " Hoffnung ist die Fähigkeit die Musik der Zukunft zu horen " - translated: "Hope is the ability to hear the music of the future".
The idea: A symbol to commemorate the flood disaster. "I wanted to show what nature can leave behind, because we are very powerless against nature. That's why we left the rest of the piano frame as nature left it."
But one small thing was added. Ten steel rods were formed into two hands and placed in front of the piano frame. “The hands are meant to symbolically indicate that they are there for the future. But only because there were helping hands in this dramatic time.”
