Enjoy a peaceful walk in nature along the Oise River in Seloignes, right in the middle of the forest. The Seloignes forest is saddle-shaped and forms a divide between the basins of the Meuse and the Oise. The Oise flows for about 15 km through Belgian territory. The Oise springs in Belgium north of the Scourmont Abbey in the municipality of Chimay, and then flows westward to the French border, where the river is the basis for the name of the village Macquenois. The Oise then flows south through the French departments of Aisne, Oise, and Seine-et-Oise, until the river empties into the Seine at Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, not far from Paris.
