AzureThis walk in Oosterzele visits a water mill and three windmills. Two of these windmills, the Klepmolen and the Windekemolen, are still running regularly. Along the way, enjoy unique landscapes some of which, such as the sand quarry, date back to the Ice Age. This is where the Balegem stone originates: a yellow-grey, soft, calcareous sandstone, which used to be used in the construction of cathedrals and town halls all over Europe. A showpiece of a different caliber is the Balegem genever, an authentic 'drop' that is distilled at Distillery Van Damme. Stop, taste and enjoy!
