Trittenheim is one of the many picturesque wine villages along the Moselle. It is the birthplace of the scholar Johannes Zeller, who Latinized his name and called himself Trithemius; there is a statue of him on the bridge. The nearby Neumagen is traditionally considered the oldest German wine town.
