The Air Observation Tower 7Z3 Schoonebeek is an air observation tower from 1954 of the Air Observation Corps on the border between the Netherlands and Germany along the Schoonebeker Diep near Schoonebeek.
Throughout the Netherlands, these concrete observation towers of the Air Observation Corps were built in the 1950s, intended to observe low-flying aircraft that flew lower than radar could detect. The towers were built according to a standard design in places where no existing tall building was available to set up a post. A total of 138 air observation towers were built, the vast majority of which were concrete block construction towers like this one.
