European School Oskar-Picht-Gymnasium Pasewalk

The founding of a school for the urban population dates back to the beginning of the 15th century with the establishment of a Latin grammar school. In 1811, the school was given the status of a Realschule and a first girls' class was installed. On April 1, 1908, the institution, which was now run as a Progymnasium, became state property. This is considered the birth of the Pasewalks Gymnasium, as the current school building was also occupied. In 1938, the school was converted into a German Secondary School for boys, until the school was closed in 1944 in the course of the Second World War and the school functioned as a military hospital. In GDR times, the school was run as EOS "Willi Sänger". In the course of the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was transferred to the Pasewalk Gymnasium, which was named after Oskar Picht from Pasewalk in 1999.
In 1905, the current building in Grünstraße was occupied. As early as 1910, a first extension was completed due to increasing space problems. The modern glass extension with science rooms was built in 1997 to counteract the space problems caused by the closure of the grammar school in neighbouring Strasburg.
