The Ludwig-Leichhardt-Gymnasium is a secondary school located in the city of Cottbus. The high school offers Japanese language courses and student exchange programs with schools in Japan, Canada, and Australia.
By decision of the Cottbus City Council, the building was erected in the 1970s during the GDR era. In 1975, the Salvador Allende High School was inaugurated as the 22nd secondary school in the east wing of the building, and the Pablo Neruda High School in the west wing as the 23rd Polytechnic High School in the city of Cottbus. Together, the two institutions formed the Cottbus Polytechnic School. In 1991, the two schools were converted into the fourth gymnasium in Cottbus. A closure was avoided in 2006.
