The evangelical Mauritius Church in Kernen im Remstal is located in the center of the district of Rommelshausen. It is situated in the immediate vicinity of the old town hall and the rectory.
Rommelskirchen was already a parish site in 1275, and a church dedicated to Saint Mauritius has been documented since 1408. The tower choir, as the oldest part of today's church, was built earlier, presumably in the 14th century. With the Reformation in the Duchy of Württemberg in 1534, the church became evangelical.
