Depressions of the South and Middle Radde and the Marka

The lowlands of the South and Middle Radde and the Marka are a bird sanctuary in the Lower Saxony town of Löningen and the municipalities of Molbergen, Lindern, and Lastrup in the Cloppenburg district, as well as the town of Werlte and the municipalities of Vrees, Lahn, Lähden, and Herzlake in the Emsland district.

The bird sanctuary covers an area of about 4,377 hectares. A part of the bird sanctuary overlaps with the FFH area "Markatal with Bockholter Dose". The nature reserve "Bockholter Dose", located in the Emsland district, as well as the nature reserve "Upper course of the Marka / Middle Radde" in the Cloppenburg district, are both within the bird sanctuary. The remaining part of the bird sanctuary, approximately 1,770 hectares, located in the Emsland district, has been designated as the landscape protection area "Middle Radde – Marka – South Radde" since 2008, which extends over a total of about 1,777 hectares. The responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the Cloppenburg and Emsland districts.
