The mining educational trail allows hikers to explore the old mining landscape on two different circular routes – around Sangerhausen.

The circular paths are located directly next to the open-air area of the Röhrigschacht in Wettelrode. The educational trails provide insight into the development of copper mining in the Sangerhausen region from the 13th to the 19th century. Of interest to hikers are the small shafts (Pingen) uncovered through excavations above ground. Glimpses into the approximately 40 cm high drifts give an idea of the hard work of the miners at that time.

A variety of information boards complement the presentation of the old mining activities.
