Discovery loop Heiligenhauser round

After a short distance past the former waterworks, which now houses a museum, a visit to the quaint café "Herberge" is recommended. Then it's just a slight uphill walk over Mühlenberg, where you'll be rewarded with a magnificent view. The further path through the nature reserves Rinderbachtal and Vogelsangbachtal all the way to the equestrian center "Rossdelle" is easy to hike.

The road with the curious name "An der Butterwelle" leads up into the city. The nucleus of the town of Heiligenhaus is believed to be located at Kirchplatz. A ground plate embedded in the ground serves as a reminder of the Hubertuskirche, which once stood here. A stroll through the traffic-calmed and bicycle-friendly city center along Hauptstraße up to the town hall provides visitors with a good insight into the former street village "Hilghen Huße".

Following the former railway line, now the PanoramaRadweg niederbergbahn, you reach the only wagon bridge in Germany. The former railway carriage is probably the most popular photo motif in Heiligenhaus. Along Abtskücher Straße, the hike passes by the Fire Brigade Museum down to Stauteich to the memorial area Abtsküche. The Hofcafé "Abtsküche" at Stauteich offers homemade cakes and rewards you with a beautiful view over the pond.
