5 Almadén - Castuera

This is the fifth stage of the route of approximately 750km from Albacete in eastern Spain to Lisbon in Portugal.

From Almadén, you drive along quiet roads out of the province of Castilla-La Mancha. From a mountainous area, you descend into a plain in Extremadura. This plain is supposed to be a huge reservoir but is almost dry. The entire route goes up and down between 350 and 650 meters in altitude. Particularly between Peñalsordo and Zarza-Capilla, there is a steep climb of 2km. There, the road also becomes wider and busier. The last 30km between Cabeza del Buey and Castuera are quite busy and rather monotonous.
